The Advantage Program for Stand-Alone Tail is an alternative for medical professional liability coverage insured under Copic and offered through Western Summit, LLC. Stand-Alone Tail coverage (also known as “Extended Reporting Period”) is a medical professional liability insurance policy offering separate limits of liability at the expiration or cancellation of your claims-made professional liability policy. It provides coverage for claims not previously reported that occurred during your active policy period.

  • Eligible risks*: Solo physicians and physician groups of four or fewer for all specialties except obstetrician, family practice/obstetrician, radiology, neonatology, pediatrics, and pathology
  • Target market: Physicians and practices that have been loss-free for the last seven years

  • Options for coverage for corporations and employees upon request

  • Limits of liability: $1M/$3M maximum limit
  • 1, 3, 5-year and unlimited reporting options available
  • First dollar coverage; $0 deductible
  • Defense costs are outside of policy limit
  • Covered Proceedings: $25,000 limit for defense cost coverage for governmental investigations, medical board inquiries, disciplinary proceedings, and billing fraud and abuse investigations
